The five regular solids are the ABC’s of three dimensional space. To know the five solids is to better understand the three dimensional world in which we all live.
It is the inner edges of the TETRA, the KUBE, the OKTA, the DODEKA and the IKO that define the forms of the five regular solids that are also known as the Platonic polyhedra.
What is a Hexahedron?
Six identical squares joined at their edges to enclose a single volume is a Hexahedron, also known as a Cube. A KUBE is twelve Tectonic Hinges joined to make the form of a Cube. It is the inner edges of a KUBE that make the form of a Cube.
What is an Icosahedron?
Twenty identical equilateral triangles joined at their edges to perfectly enclose a single volume is an Icosahedron. An IKO is thirty Tectonic Hinges joined to make the form of a Icosahedron. It is the inner edges of an IKO that make the form of an Icosahedron.
What is a Tetrahedron?
Four identical equilateral triangles joined at their edges to perfectly enclose a single volume is a Tetrahedron. A TETRA is six Tectonic Hinges joined to make the form of a Tetrahedron. It is the inner edges of a TETRA that make the form of a Tetrahedron.
What is an Octahedron?
Eight identical equilateral triangles joined at their edges to perfectly enclose a single volume is an Octahedron. An OKTA is twelve Tectonic Hinges to make the form of an Octahedron. It is the inner edges of an OKTA that make the form of an Octahedron.
What is a Dodeka?
Twelve identical pentagons joined at their edges to perfectly enclose a single volume is a Dodecahedron. A DODEKA is thirty Tectonic Hinges joined to make the form of a Dodecahedron. It is the inner edges of a DODEKA that make the form of a Dodecahedron.
